impdef.exe

Author: (Norbert) Suedland, Aalen, Germany

The tool to get the contents of a library or import library and to shorten it, where needed. This possibility mainly becomes to be interesting, if a programme has become too big.

The possible control parameters are ascertained by a call (without arguments) of:

impdef.exe
where the English explanation reads the following:
Borland impdef Version 2.0.140.1 Copyright © 1991, 1997 Borland International

Syntax: impdef [options] destination_name[.def] source_name[.dll]
Options:
-hemit hints

Whether in case of a translation of this programme into other languages also all option characters are to be translated, can be discussed.

The following call generates an overview to a Dynamic Link Library (DLL):

impdef.exe destination_name.def source_name.dll

The generated overview file *.def can be edited (mainly be shortened) by any writing programme and afterwards be changed by implib to the needed import library ([1997Lou], chapter 11.2, page 247-249).
